The suns final rays reached over the land, a smooth and slowly fading cares that took to the shadows as their last remnants flickered away and gave way to night. The shadows blended with the pale sky as the silver moon crested. A gentle breeze saw through the trees, lightly tugging on them and causing them to sway softly in the breeze. The land was still as the evening passed, but for one. Her eyes glanced out over the pack, her tail jerking easily behind her as she sat in thought. She did not really see the land, but asshe thougt of it all, she was alsways mystified by their good fortune. She had not really known what to expect when they had taken this land for themselves. As the horizon was tinted with one last glance of gold, night was upon her and she stood out like a beacon as she stood from a hill. Her fur shimmering the plae, glistening light of the moon and made her shine. Her posture was relaxed, eyes half lidded and muscles relieved of all tension. The past days had been calm and for the first time in a while, she had been able to put her mind at ease. The tension of her daily life had slipped away and allowed for what she thought to be impossible. They actual had a period of ease and relaxation. Ina did not know how long it would last, but she prayed that their peaeful days would not come to end, but she knew that could not be true.
They had far too many enemies for that to ever be true and she hated it. She hated it more than she hated Rainier. Her eyes shut and she sighed, not lingering on such things. After all, she had a few moments of quiet to share with her mate. Ina smiled and looked over her shoulder. She had not had a moment with him alone for a long time and she was going to enjoy his company alone. Ina did not makes plans for the night, but she hoped that no one would disrupt there little peaceful evening. She had not gotten wind of anyone they should be on guard for and so, she was going to take it easy; with this in mind, she turned back away from the hill and walked slowly down it. She took in the cool air and the scents around her. It was her home. It struck her at that moment that she finally felt content and a large grin pulled itself onto her face. All of her wounds had healed, leaving no traces. It had taken a while, but they had gone from her body. Ina could only see a faint sliver of a scar on her shoulder. The female thought it odd that she was able to see it. It meant her coat had thinned out. In battle, her fur was a shield, but during the times of warmth when she shed and her fur was lesser than its winter state, she had to be careful. Her life had at one point been fight after fight.
Ina reached the bottom of the hill and turned through a patch of new trees. The female looked longingly at the lake before deciding that she could delay her plans long enough for a short swim. She made her way over to the glassy surface and stared at her relfection. The sight that met her eyes was a delicate looking beauty whos blue eyes told of her life and the scars that stood out more and more. She shook her head as she lowered her front end into the water, shivering at its cold temperature against her heated skin. She waded forward, dragging her tail through the liquid. Ina swam into the deepest part, her feet now clear of the bottom of the lake. She tossed her head back and laughed playfully. Water was thrown from her coat and she glistened brightly as she climbed upon the embankment on the other side, drenched from head to toe. She shook and water flew everywhere. She sat in silence for a moment, letting her fur air dry. It was not long before was damp rather than dripping and so, she turned to head back to their den away from the others. She had at first had to talk her mate into the idea of a seclude den, but after a few nights with just one another, they had come to love it.
The night grew darker and deeper, but she was not scared. It was not that she had an absence of fear, but there was simply nothing to be afraid of. This was her land and no one would dare step paw into a place where the female that had the blood curse lived, as the rumors that circulated the others told of her. Ina had quite the repetation as a fiercesome warrior and a even more determined mother and mate. She was enved by many, hated by a few, and generally accepted by most. Her steps were soft, barely making a sound as she climbed up a small inclined hill. She veered off to the left before climbing atop a pile of rocks. Nearly there now, Ina glanced back over her shoulder. Many saw this as paranoia, but after as many figts as she had been in and as many surprise attacks had been thrown at her, Ina had right to be a little paranoid. She scented the air, and found no outsiders; however, two scents were strong in this area. Her own and her mate's. It brougt her an intense wave of europhia and contement to be surrounded by his scent. She felt it as if it were his arms wrapped about her, protecting her from what she could see. Just as he belonged to her, she belonged to him in a way that could not be described with mere words. He had her body, that was the given, but had also had much more, my precious things. She allowed him her mind and her strength. Her heart beat only to hear his answer, and her soul, oh her soul.
Her soul was a powerful thing, both beauitful and dangerous. It had ensared the minds and bodies of many, but none before he truly possessed it as Bounder did now. Ina knew she could let her guard down around him and be herself. He was her life and her dream. He was the one she wanted to grow old with and love for all eternity. This bond was stronger than most, for they had been pushed to their very limits and tested by the fates. Once or twice, they had made a mistake, but with each other's help, they had overcome it and always stood by the other's side, confidant and loving. As she mounted the hill, it broke off into a smooth, grassy alcove that was tucked under the safety of fallen trees and another hill. It was a natural cave, but the moonlight filtered across in a poetic and lulling way. It was beautiful, made all the more so by the fur and grasses that lay within it. Ina smiled as she walked up to it, rubbing against a stone, leaving a scent trace here and there. Her paws stopped as she circled and laid down, staring at the starry sky, alight with small burning lights. She sighed happily and waited. He would come soon, something in her heart told her he would and this pleased her very much.

Lately he'd been questioning his lot in life. Where he stood with the pack, and where he stood with the kids. More importantly, on what grounds did he stand with his mate? He recalled all the fights they'd been in, all the dangers they'd faced, and they'd always faced them together. He sat down and recalled the night they had met. Though fairly young, this seemed a lifetime ago. But how could he forget that wonderful evening? What started in tragedy had ended in joy. He was in need of some comfort after the death of his friend. And luck had been with him. He had happened across the snowy white femme in a fit of despair, while she had been contemplating her own lot in life. She had just lost her mate, and a few of her pups. What reason was there to go on living? He was reason enough. The two came together in a moment of grief. That night, their friendship had blossomed. A bond formed between them, and Bounder found himself inching closer to the snowy white arctic. He was there alongside her when she gave birth to her pups. Things were beginning to look up...
But it wasn't that easy. He should of known that his past would come calling. One way or another, it was bound to catch up with him sooner or later. The past finally arrived in the form of his younger brother, Marus. The tri-colored brute had a bone to pick with his bi-colored sibling. He had never forgiven his brother for walking out on their mother. To this very day, Bounder wondered what things would of been like had he not left the glen. Of course that meant he never would of met Ina, which was unheard of. He couldn't picture a life without his beloved. Yes, they fought and they argued, but didn't all married couples? No relationship was without flaw, and the two of them had experienced the ups and the downs, but they always managed to find their way back to each other again, for which Bounder was extremely grateful. There were times where he felt as though he had pushed her too far. There were times where he couldn't blame her for getting angry with him. He was quick to judge the flaws of another, which often got him trouble, both with his mate and some others he'd met. He hated to come off as self-centered, but at times, that's just how he was. Like it or not, he was Canyon's son, and a bit of his father could be seen every so often. It was the one thing Bounder feared most: that he should become like his father. That bastard, the one who had walked out on Bounder and Marus. If he had stayed, things might of worked out for Bounder and Marus. They would of done well with a father to guide them. Marus might of turned out a whole different wolf...
But there was no sense in moping over the past. He should be happy, for at very long last his pack was at peace. He inhaled, taking in the sweet night air that surrounded him. What magnificent evening, and a truly magnificent sunset. Like Ina, he had watched the sun set in the west, a vibrant display of colors and shades. It was a beautiful sight. He reminded himself to come out and watch them a little more often. Once finished, he turned with a smile, his tail wagging slowly. He felt at Peace with himself and the rest of the world. "Despite all that's happened, you done good," he chuckled. He padded on down the hill and looked to the moon. It cast its glow on the forest below it, and he felt revitalized in its gentle caress. He was a child of the moon, the wild, feral wolf, and he threw back his head to bay at the stars. He gave praise for all that he had, and all that had yet to come. He finished his song and lowered his head, a smile on his lips. He felt so alive. He wanted to tear through the forest while howling his head off; he wanted to splash through the puddles and wade through the streams. He wanted someone to share with, and he knew who to turn to. His beloved. Wherever she was, he would find her. This feeling, this night, it was theirs for the taking. He slunk through the forest, moving from shadow to shadow, the hues of his pelt making it seem as though he were a shadow himself. He had her scent. He followed it, his nose to the ground, a smile on his face. Dear, sweet Ina, how he longed to be by her side. The light of his life, the very core of his being, his soul and his heart. She was all this and more. He needed her to stay sane; he needed her to be whole. If something happened to her, he would die. He'd just up and die, no questions asked. And there, he could see her up on the rocks which lead to their den. Bounder was at a distance from Ina, but even from here he had to admire her.
She looked beautiful, the moon serving to lighten her highlights. Did she even realize how majestic she looked? It was as though the heavens had sent him an angel. Bounder watched her look this way and that, checking to make sure all was well. He couldn't blame her for being a little uptight. They weren't short on foes, so it never hurt to be careful. He made his way toward the den, the smile still on his face. He could hardly wait to be there beside her. No, they weren't perfect, and yes, they'd made a mistake here and there. But one thing remained, and that was the love they shared for one another. No matter what, he would always love Ina. Nothing could come between them indefinitely; he belonged to her, now and forever, just as she belonged to him.
He got to the foot of of the hill, and climbed up it slowly. He'd had a few misgivings with their den being so far away from the others. But after a few nights alone, he'd come to accept it. Or rather, he loved it. He spotted his mate at the top, stretched out at the mouth of their den. He slipped up beside her and gave her a lick, his tongue running the length of her cheek. He then settled beside her, his eyes slowly closing. He nuzzled her gently, that warm smile still there. "Evening, love," he whispered. "You look beautiful."
If only this moment would last. He knew it wouldn't. The night would go on, and the sun would rise in the east. But none of it mattered to Bounder. He had his mate by his side, and that's all he needed.

Many thoughts had come to as of recent on her place in this world. A universe so large made her life seem unimportant and small, but she was just as much a part of this world as the sun and stars. The fates had brougt her and her mate together, when she had hit botton and had seen no way to climb back to the top. His love had blossomed unexpectedly and with the arrival of Marus had come secrets and a new discovery about herself. It was not to be said that Ina was not willing to try new things and make friends, but her relationship with the tr-colored timber was complicated. He was an enemy to them, but she could not help but read him like a book. He tried to hide himself from the world. The more he tried, the more she saw in him. She understood his pain in a way no other could and in a way, she was the best thing he had, but refused to acknoweldge. Ina had to make a choice about where her loyalties lie. She new who to choose, but she had to wonder, as she sat lost in thought, if Bounder needed her as much as his brother did now. Marus was dangerous, but it was nothing she could not handle alone. Marus was weak in more ways than one. He let his feelings out in burst and vented his anger in battle. It was then that he was the most vivid in character. She shook her head, hoping to rid her mind of such troublesome thoughts and settled her eyes on the magnificent sunset that appeared to be a painting with smooth, bright strokes that illuminated the faintest shadows, produced by a steady and sure hand. It was truly a work of art to be admired and brougt the snowy female great peace to see that all was well within her pack and her heart. She smiled and howled as the sun flickered away, receding into its hinding place and allowing is sister, the moon to rise high as it slumbered peacefully for now.
Her form was a glistening diamond against the shrouded night. Her arctic heritage had blessed her with a white coat that shimmered in moon. Many a time, Ina had wondered if her kind had come from a line of ancient gods that thrived on the moon. This thougt drifted sleepily across her mind and she stretched, tail held high and ears forward. She considered her ties to Bounder. He had been there at a time when no one cared to look her way and raised her high. He had done more for her in a single night than any other and she could never find a proper way to thank him for saving her from the verge of death and sorrow and giving her a reason to live. Thank you just did not seem a big enough phrase to describe how she felt. They had their moments, just like any other couple, but what made them different from them was the way they understood and could relate. He had grown up with out a father, her's had died before her eyes. They had much in common, yet they were so different. She had a large pack, where blood ties and titles were more important than the wolf themselves. Ina could not recall a time when she did not wish that her pack was smaller and more loving than it was. Icefangs, it was called, and it was just that. The pack had sharp tongues and attitudes. Everyone thought themselves better than that person a rank below. It had driven her to near insanity on more than one occasion. She was determined to make sure that this pack did not end up like that. She always had been fond of the diea of a closekint pack where everyone at least knew each by name.
A call on the wind caused he corners of her mouth to twitch into a smile and she tossed her head back to the heavens, sending an answer to his cry, a howl of her own made with a single, solid note and a beautiful soprano tone. It made her feel alive, feel reborn. The night gave her energy and instilled her with a sense of wild freedon she had not felt since her youthful days as a pup. A chuckle slipped from her lips as she took off in a spiritful burst of limbs and fur. She darted through the night, laughing to the trees and the sky, to the moon and the stars. She felt happy and cherished the feeling. Ina paused as she came to the edge of the lake and looked to shimmering reflection. It was like a mirror of the sky and night. It was just as beautiful as everything else in this night was. All of her worry and pain had been forgotten, old wounds had closed and her the haunted look that always seemed to be just below her smile had disappeared. In its place was a sparkling blue hope that was not only hard to ignore but was contagious. Her soulful blues shimmered with a seething fire that dared anyone to take this peace from her. Ina had finally found her paradise, after so long, she had found true happiness. She went for a brief swim before turning toward their den. Really, her feet moved on their own as she admired the dark shadows htat brought her for once, comfort instead of fear and weariness. It was a new sensation to her and she welcomed. Nothing would ruin this night if she had a say in it. She would defend her land, but she would also fight for her right to be happy and to have a life uninteruppted by fighting and enemies. If only this could last.
They had many foes ands as she climbed the hill, she paused out of habit to look about had make sure everything was safe. Her eyes closed and she sighed contently. The moon lightened her, making her shine like a heaven;y being. She did not notice, though. She was used to the moon reflecting off of her white pelt. Ina thought of how she had pursuaded her mate to have a den so far from the others. It had not been that hard. She had promised a few things and a few things had been said. She did have to worry about whether or not he would be here. She knew that he knew. There was something ancient and familar about this night. It served to energize her and bring her serenity. Credit to her ancestry, Ina was as wild and untamed as the grass in the field and she could run wherever she felt to. She was often referred to be in secret as the soul that could be broken. Sh e had never let up on her vigilance once since they had claimed this land, fully expecting there to be others who would also wish it to be their's. Most had left peacefully, but some she had to get rough with. She did want it to be that way, but she had no other choice. Her paws stopped as she caught her mate's scent. "Bounder" She whispered to him, a soft call on the wind. Their scents blended as one, a syphony of notes that became a beauitful chorus. Ina crossed through the fallen trees and into their personal den. She laid down on the suft bed of fur and grass.
She smiled as he came to the top. Her eyes landed on him and watched with, shimmering and showing great love. She loved him from the bottom of her heart. As he licked her, she leaned against him, waiting for him to settle before snuggling close. She rested her head against his chest, nuzzling the fur there. She smiled, and she noted you could hear the smile in his vioice. At his compliment, she blushed softly. "It is a beauitful night. There's just something about it, something wild and untamed in the air tonight." She paused to look up at him. "It makes me think of you" She closed her eyes slowly, sighing peacefully, totally relaxed. It was a pitcuresque scene. Two mates who were devoted to each other above all else. There had been a slip up here and thee, but they had made it throuh all the tough times and this was their reward. They had each other. "Bounder, love?" She began, inquisitively. "Would you let me share this lovely night?" She licked his chin and curled her tail around his. She shifted for a moment, softly kissing him. It was like a lover's first kiss, hesitant and soft, but loving and the meaning there so deep. She broke it slowly and placed her head back against his chest. It was too bad that this night would have to come to an end and the sun would rise, but at least they could have a night to be themselves. A night to themselves to be themsleves with only each other. It was romantic and sweet.

What had he done to deserve this? To be so deliciously happy? A very good question, and one he had asked time and time again. The timber had paused at the lake to look down at the surface. The water was smooth, and his reflection gazed back with a smug little grin. He knelt to take a drink from the lake, and his actions distilled the water before him. He then rose with a grunt while enjoying the calm of the night. It was quiet, perhaps a little too quiet, but he found nothing wrong with the silence around him. Being the alpha was nice and all, but he was glad to have some time for himself. The pack seemed stable enough; they could manage a few hours without him alright. But he wouldn't go far, should one of them need him for something. He sat down on the bank and scratched at his ear. Ina wanted to see him tonight, and he was happy to oblige. He'd been wanting to spend some time with his mate, without any distractions, and lately there had been plenty of those.
There was his brother for starters. He wondered what had become of the tri-colored brute. He hadn't heard much of his brother, not after Bounder had been forced to send him away. It's not like he'd wanted to do it, but Marus was highly unstable, and a threat to the pack. Roz hadn't spoken to him since the exile of his beloved uncle, and for that Bounder was sorry. He'd never meant to hurt Roz in the first place. Roz was like a son to the bi-colored timber, and knowing that he caused Roz a great deal of pain was torture for Bounder. He'd been working to make things right between them, but Roz didn't seem to want to have anything to do with him. That hurt the timber. From day one, he'd had Roz's best interests at heart. He never should of allowed Marus to get so close to his son. Wait, no, he was wrong to think that way. Marus was a part of his family, like it or not, and he deserved to have a say in the matter. That being said, he still should of kept an eye on his brother.
Marus was hard to figure out. If Bounder was day, then Marus was night. Hard to believe that at one time they could agree on just about anything. Now it was getting to be where everything led to a battle of wits, or a fight for control. Marus would be happy to contest the will of his brother. In his mindset, anything Bounder said or did was wrong. They couldn't agree on anything without fighting these days. If Bounder said it was going to rain, Marus would say it was going to snow, just to mess with his brother. He was volatile and a danger to all those around him. He had tried to kill Bounder on more than one separate occasion, and he'd even tried breaking Ina and Bounder apart. There was no doubt in his mind that Marus was evil. Or rather, he had a dark side that no one could tame. Marus would have to face his demons alone before any of them had the chance to assist. At one time, Bounder believed he had changed, and he'd wanted to believe it so very badly. For you see, Bounder had never stopped loving his brother. "It's just... things have arisen," he whispered. "We don't see eye to eye like we used to." He missed having his brother beside him. Marus and he were something else at one time in his life. And now, you ask? Now they were at odds with each other; the brother he knew was long gone. He was dead to the world, practically buried under a mountain of hatred and darkness. Would Marus ever be able to forgive Bounder? Could he ever let go of this hatred he felt for the others? Because that's what had Bounder worried the most. Marus was most feared for his temper, and he was prone to exploding with little to no warning at all. It was like he had a grudge against everything. He was mad at the world, and he took his anger out on those who wanted to help him the most. This anger, this fury of his... it would be his undoing, one of these days.
But enough of these thoughts. For now, anyway. He'd come here to spend some time with his mate. He watched the moon shine down on his love, wrapping her up in ethereal glory. "So beautiful," he whispered. "My angel, my love." Words couldn't describe the way that he felt. Butterflies flitted around in his stomach, and it felt as though his tongue had dried up completely. She was perfect, so perfect in fact that at times he felt as though he didn't deserve her. But what would life be like without his true love? He didn't even want to imagine. A life without Ina? What life? It held little meaning without the snowy white arctic. She was his everything, he was her all, and together, the two were made whole. She seemed so happy; even from this distance, Bounder swore he could see a smile on her face. He felt good in seeing her happy, and knowing that put a smile on his face as well. Like Ina, the wounds he'd received were done finished healing. He bore a few scars here and there, but it was nothing in comparison to the love for his mate. He loved seeing her smile, no matter what the occasion, and it got even better. She no longer had that look in her eyes, like some wild animal backed into a corner. Once more her eyes sparkled with joy and a passion for him. They sparked with an iron will, promising trouble for any who threatened to disrupt the peace. He shan't keep her waiting...
Getting him to agree on the den was simple enough. In fact, he appreciated the distance between them and the rest of the pack. Here they could tend to each other without being distracted. Her whisper came back to him like a song on the wind. Such a sweet note from the angel herself. He reached the mouth of their den in no time at all, and there she lay, spread out on the floor of the cave. He stretched out beside her, his side pressing against the frame of her body. The two of them sat there for a minute, the only sound being the air escaping his lungs. She nuzzled against him, her head on his chest to where she could hear the beat of his heart, and he ended up placing a paw on her back. "Wild and untamed," he whispered. "That sums it up nicely alright." She definitely had a way with words. And it made her think of the bi-colored timber. He smiled back at her while running his paw down the small of her back. "It reminds me of you," he replied with a chuckle. "It's sweet and it's wonderful. Exactly like you." He c.ocked an ear at his mate. "Hmm?"
Why of course. In fact, he wouldn't dream of spending it with anyone else. "The pleasure's all mine," he said with a grin. Their tails intertwined, his wrapping around the length of her own for a second or two, as she leaned in to kiss him. Their lips locked, he pausing to savor the moment. It was heaven for Bounder. Yes, the night would go on, the sun would come up, and the two of them would have to go about performing their duties. But for now, he was going to make the most of this time shared between them.
Because he loved her so.

Perfect. That one word summed up everything she had as of that moment. She had a pack, a safe one at that. She had two beautiful and talented children; but really hit the mark was her mate. Bounder had done and said more than anyone ever had for her, to her. This, coupled with his ability to forgive and forget everything that she had ever done wrong made her feel completely unworthy of him. He may have felt the same way about her, but Ina could never believe he would hurt her. Many had and it mad her paranoid of Bounder's touch and his love. She had tried many times to push him away, to save herself from the pain she feared might come, but every time he came back with a shake of his head and a smile. It was this above all else that proved to her that he was really the one she had dreamed of. He even loved her children, who pleased her, and what more; they loved him as their father. It was perfect, absolutely perfect. It was time that she and her mate had some time to themselves. This said, Ina had decided to take some time to herself and take a walk and earlier that day, she had come to the conclusion that she and Bounder should take some time to themselves and retreat to their shared den for the night. Her eyes sparkled as she thought over the conversation she had with him that morning. He had agreed, and she was glad to know she would finally have time to be herself and relax. There had been a high demand for her strength and her courage recently. It had overwhelmed her nights ago and she had broken down in tears from the stress, thus leading to their choice to take a vacation from the job of alphaship. If anything needed to be done, they would act, but for tonight, her children were perfectly capable of taking the pack in their place.
Too many distractions had ruined their peace. Marus had been there most recent problem. Ina was worried for him. She could kill him if needed, yes; but the final blow belonged to Bounder and Ina would not touch the male if he did nothing to her first. She and Marus were far more alike than they would have ever realized and admitted. They carried a great deal of scars, both mentally and physically from there lives and the challenges they had faced. Burned into their minds were the memories of things they wished otherwise of. Yes, they were alike, but they were more different than similar. Ina loved Bounder with everything she had and he was her everything. His heartbeat soothed her and led her to sleep at night and his touch could calm her anger and wipe away tears. Marus, meanwhile, hated his brother, but Ina was not sure if he hated her. He had tried to kill, but only to hurt Bounder. She looked out across her pack and wondered were the timber lay now. He was a threat to her more than her mate, for she was both Bounder's greatest strength and weakness. Her support was all he needed, but if she were to die, he would die in a way that no one could understand. They were connected, soul mates even. She could remember how he had hesitated more than once to attack Marus because she lay between them. She had made him promise that if she were to die in battle he would not avenge her death with another death. She could only hope he was strong enough to survive this lifestyle they led.
She pulled her mind from these thoughts, smiling to herself as she howled, a call to her mate that echoed through the land. It was beautifully sung. Her voice resonated power and strength, courage and love. The snowy wolf lowered her head and winked at the full moon above, lashing her tail over her back and descended down the hill to a small, yet warn path through one of the many patches of trees in the pack. She grinned as she walked slowly, taking in the sights and smells of the pack. Her eyes glittered with moonlight, shimmering pools of ice blue that seemed to capture the very soul. Her mind was unsettled as she thought to her son, Roz. He had become attached to his uncle, despite the warnings he received. He had taken a hit to the heart and had yet to recover from the force of the blow. For the first time, Ina had been torn between her son and her duty to her pack. She had wanted to kill Marus, but as her son had been standing right there, she did not think he would have been able to forgive her and so, she had banished him. He had admitted to her that he was unstable and although he did not wish her harm, a part of him was not controlled and he felt she had made the although heart wrenchingly painful, right choice. She had promised him safety within the pack and had not told anyone of this. She knew Marus's true nature and true struggle; it made her his greatest ally. She was willing to help him, despite what the others would no doubt think of her. Ina would let her heart be broken over and over again if it meant she could in someone help the timber to overcome the darkness that seethed within him.
She cleared such things from her mind with a soft sigh. She knew she shouldn't be so worried about it. Marus was strong, but he was so fragile at the same. His mind was a dangerous thing. He could think of ways to torture them and had nearly destroyed Ina herself with a method of torture so inhumane it had left her reeling. He had taken away Bounder's trust in his mate and used his brother's fault to manipulate his way of thinking. Ina shuddered as she remembered the horrible fight that had taken place between her and Bounder once he had laid eyes on her and Marus. The pain, the unbelievable, shocked, and angry glares he sent her way had caused her to wish she were dead. She had begged, wished, and hoped that he would look passed his anger and see her what she really was. At that time, not even pleading tears had been able to sway Bounder and she had wondered if he would ever forgive her. It was perhaps their darkest moment as a couple, as mates. It had been on that day realized they full danger of their relationship. Many still wished for their deaths, but they would not give them that satisfaction; they would fight side by side, the true essence of what it meant to love one another, to fight for the other. The very idea that someone could try and break them apart was laughable. Sure, they argued, they fought, but they always came back to one another and that was what mattered.
Things had been hard for a while, and she had doubted whether or not she would have the strength to make it through the nights when she was alone. Her eyes closed and then opened as she worked to clear her mind; tonight was beautiful, and nothing was going to change that. She wanted to spend some one on one time with Bounder and so; she managed to clear her head. Somehow, she came to the edge of a lake and looked around like a child making sure no one could catch them stealing a cookie from the cookie jar. As she swam, the water rippled about her and she found herself remembering what the stress had done to her body. Her eyes had lost that weary, uncertain fear that had lingered in them for so long. Her coat, although thinned by the warm climate, was shiny and soft. Her smiles were true and loving. This place had restored her in a sense. A new beginning had been what she needed. She kicked off the bottom of the lake with a laugh and dived under the water for a moment, watching the fish swim in the broken moonlight. The paid her no mind and she was reminded for a moment of the circle in which all life flowed. Life and death, food and hunters, it was all one large circle. The same idea had been applied to her pack. Ina had been thinking up ideas for the basic laws. They needed to be fair and equal, yet stern and clear in meaning. This was no minor accomplishment. It would take quite some time to get it right. This thought, she decided to make her way to their den. She climbed out of the cool water and shook the extra water from her coat. The moonlight reflected on them and her coat shimmered for a brief second. It was truly magnificent. She paused and glanced down to see she was still dripping. With a wave of her paw, she manipulated the water and it disappeared into the air. She was not prone to using that particularly power, but she did not have the time to sit around and air dry. Besides, with what she had in mind, she would need her energy.
She walked quickly, but was not really in hurry. The wind tugged on her fur, beckoning her forward and bringing forward a primal urge to race with the wind. Ina smiled and took off, letting out a soft, sudden bark that causing sleeping birds to take flight. They soared about her as she ran through the trees, the long grass subdued by her paws. A steady rhythm was set as the land and wolf became one. It was an ancient dance that neither could stop. They were a part of each other and necessary to the other's survival. The wolf fed off the land, and the land in turned nourished the animals she hunted. It was balanced. As she skid to a stop, she could feel his eyes on her body and despite herself felt a blush creeping up her neck and cheeks. She looked at him through the corner of her eye. She smiled and called to him a howl. Ina slowed to a trot. Her mate's love was all that she would ever need. Every time she laid eyes on him, her heart would flutter rapidly in her chest and she felt light headed. Her life could be shambles if he was not a part of it. He was everything and all she had, simultaneously the one and the all. She could not describe him in mere words. She stepped into their den, ducking her head and then standing to her full height. She lay down and looked to where he was coming now. Ina wagged her tail in greeting. She watched him approach and then snuggle up next to her. She felt complete. He was just so lovely and so tender. His heartbeat echoed in her ears and she felt him place a paw on her back. She did not mind the warmth that radiated of him on him on such a warm night; in fact, it only served to further her contentment this evening. She sighed, her breath tickling his fur. "Everything is so wonderful tonight. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you want to spend it with me" She whispered while smiling.
He answered her just as she knew he would. Her eyes flickered with fire as he kissed her. She melted under his touch. It was amazing. Ina was thought to be untamable, unbreakable, and yet with a single kiss, he could reign in her fire and control it. Only he alone had the ability to make or break her in one word, one action. Ina knew this night was not going to last forever, but she could not help the selfish wish it would. She wondered what to do with their night, even as her paws circled about his neck, drawing him in close. She looked deep into his eyes, her soul barely hidden beneath those icy blues. Ina kissed him again, but this time, it was slower, like a caress. Her body went slack in his hold and she waved a paw .The female manipulated the water in the air and felt something cool about her neck. As she pulled away, a necklace formed on each of their necks. The one she wore was simple, made of ice and shining. It looked simple, but when you looked closely, you could see the imprint of Bounder's name carved delicately into it. His was larger, also made of ice. Her name lay in it, but below it was printed a small message. 'Never to part, always one' She smiled to herself. She had shone him the greatest thing about being a water manipulator. The ice did not melt, for as long as she wished it to stay and as long as they loved one another, it would hold. She ran a paw loving down his cheek. Ina sat before him and then, she did something she had not done in a long time. She hugged him, peppering kisses on his neck and chin. It was a submissive gesture, but at this moment it meant for more. It was a symbol of her great affection, love, and trust in him. To place herself under Bounder as she had done was the biggest sign of true love a wolf could show.
"Never to part, we are one. One we shall remain as long as our love holds true" She whispered as she let go reluctantly and then stepped out of the den, beckoning him to follow her.
